Meet the R&R nurse who won our trip to Thailand!

To reward our rural and remote (R&R) nurses for their hard work, we launched a competition to win a luxury escape to Thailand in August.

What was involved?

From the 10th August to 21st October 2015, for every week our rural and remote nurses were contracted to work in one of our rural and remote facilities, they were automatically entered into our prize draw. The more shifts they worked, the greater their chances were to win!

Whilst we would love to reward everyone for their hard work, we have drawn our winner!*

Congratulations to Jose!

Our well deserving winner, Jose, is a long standing member of HCA. Hecompleted a total of 10 weeksin two of our Western Australia R&R facilitiesduring 10th Augustto 31st October2015 ‚ working in Port Headland and most recently Nikol Bay (where he will remain until Christmas). This exceptional effort earned Jose 10 entries into the competition!

Jose first joined HCA in 2001 when he was working as an Aged Care nurse. After some time away from nursing he re-joined last year to work as an ICU nurse in Emergency Departments up in the Pilbara. His passion is now rural and remote placements!

Jose will receive a luxurious eight night stay for two in tropical Thailand (with flights included and more!). We look forward to hearing about his adventures.

Here’s what our winner has to say:

“When I got thesurprise phone call from Michelle (WA Regional Consultant) that I won the HCA Rural and Remote Thailand competition- Icouldn’t contain my excitement as I have never won anything in my life (this happened whilst I was triaging a patient mind you -thank goodness it wasn’t a Cat.1!). Good job HCA for this idea, this will be my earlyChristmaspresent.I’d like to thank you for looking after me and continuing to source more work/contract opportunities for me.”

We have many amazing nurses who work equally hard to improve the health of our rural and remote communities. We hope you all know your effort and dedication to your profession does not go unrecognised.

You may have missed out on this fantastic prize this time but we promise therewill be more exciting campaigns in 2016!Stay tuned…
