Who is your hero and why?

My Dad. Having the strength and vision to move to Australia with his wife and 4 young boys in 1966.

If you could live anywhere, where would it be?

City Beach (Perth). The perfect lifestyle and climate.

What is your favourite family vacation?

Peaceful Bay (South Coast of WA). A quiet relaxed holiday village.

What would you change about yourself if you could?

Be less accepting of under performance. The standard you walk past is the standard you set.

    Who is your favourite author?

Patricia Cornwell & James Patterson. I love crime novels.

What is your child’s proudest accomplishment?

Recently he turned 5. He was very proud.

Do you like or dislike surprises? Why or why not?

I HATE surprises. I like to be in control of a situation.

In the evening, would you rather play a game, visit a relative, watch a movie, or read?

Once the kids are in bed, I love to either watch a movie with my husband or curl up with a good book.

Would you rather vacation in Hawaii or Alaska, and why?

Hawaii! Cocktails, beach, friendly people, what’s not to like.

Is your glass half full or half empty?

Its half full. Life’s too short to dwell on the negatives all the time.

What was the last movie you went to? What did you think?

I went to see The Greatest Showman and WOW it was fantastic (well that goes without saying when Hugh Jackman’s in the movie ?)! The story is amazing and very uplifting and makes you realise that you can do anything you put your mind to, no matter what your shape, size or looks.

What is your favourite game or sport to watch and play?

I’m a sports lover and would watch any sport all night and day if I could, but I do especially love the NRL state or origin. Being from NSW and now living in QLD it’s awesome how competitive the Queenslanders get and can’t deal with me wearing my blues jersey in the office.

Would you rather ride a bike, ride a horse, or drive a car?

Ride a horse. I will pick anything to do with animals every time.

What two radio stations do you listen to in the car the most?

Something upbeat that I can sing to really loud, so I tend to swap between stations to find the best song.

Which would you rather do: wash dishes, mow the lawn, clean the bathroom, or vacuum the house?

All of the above haha. I love a clean house but sadly renovating means my house is rarely spotless. With that said, I love nothing more than learning to work with new power tools!

What is the  biggest accomplishment in your life?

Buying my own home completely solo at 28 years old, and now completing renovation projects, with minimal injuries from the power tools!

Who is the most intelligent person you know?

The most intelligent person I know is my brother, who is an industrial chemist with a post grad in forensic chemistry. You cannot think allowed “I wonder why…” without him being able to scientifically answer it for you!

Given the choice of anyone in the world, whom would you want as a dinner guest?

While he’s not in the world anymore, if I could have dinner with anyone of my choice, it would be one last dinner shared with my Dad who passed away in 2007.

What is the worst gift you have received?

When I 13 I spent the weekend at my Grandparents and as a surprise my Mum decorated my room in Pink and Lilac. When I got home my Mum was really excited to present me with my newly decorated room. However I had grown out of Pink and Lilac the year before and now hated those colours! I didn’t have the heart to tell her and my room stayed those colours for the next 5 years!

Aside from necessities, what one thing could you not go a day without?

I could not go a day without my morning coffee! It’s the only way to start the day!

What are two of  your pet peeves?

When people spell my name incorrectly, when they know how to spell my name the correct way. My Nana insist that my name is spelt incorrectly and has always addressed my birthday cards as ‘Holly K’.

Manners! My family are big on manners, so always say please and always say thank you. As a kid my Mum would pretend she could not hear me if I asked for something without saying please or thank you.

Where do you see yourself in five years?

In five years’ time I would hope that I have progressed considerably in my career and am happy and successful in that position. I would also like to own my home and perhaps have 1 or 2 children.

How many pairs of shoes do you own?

I had a little shoe problem in the UK, so I do have around 120 pairs of shoes/sandals/pumps. Although, I am sure my little sister has helped herself since I have been gone! I have around 20-25 shoes/sandals/pumps here in Australia, it’s a working progress 🙂

    Describe your first car

!n 18 year old, rattle trap of a Ford Laser with no air conditioning and a dodgy radiator which required refilling every 30 minutes or so. I’m not quite sure how it was roadworthy but it was a perfect broke uni student’s car and I loved it!

What is the strangest thing you have ever eaten?

Shark fin and chicken feet – and the final experience of eating either!

    What languages can you speak?

A little French, German and courtesy of my Zimbabwean upbringing, passable Shona and Ndebele (Zimbabwean tribal languages) and a very small amount of Afrikaans.

What is your favourite childhood memory?

When I was living in Karratha as a child, I woke up really early one morning and went outside to play. I took one look outside and ran to my Grandad and woke him up yelling “Grandad there’s an A-mu in the backyard! There’s an A-mu!” because our fence had fallen down and there was 3 Emu’s just hanging out in our backyard!

    What languages can you speak?

I can only speak English, but I’m learning how to sign in Auslan with my partner which is super fun and exciting.
